| Processing of Space Shuttle Discovery continues on schedule for the Oct. 5 target launch date. Workers at the launch pad have completed the orbiter's cavity purge test and leak checks on the right-hand orbiter maneuvering system engine. Today, engineers are conducting the Helium Signature Test. Preparations are also in work for this weekend's planned loading of Discovery's onboard propellant tanks.

Technicians have completed efforts to drain Atlantis' power reactant storage and distribution system of cryogenic reactants. The STS-106 spacesuits have been removed and are en route to the Johnson Space Center. Atlantis' payload bay doors will be opened Saturday and post-flight hydraulic work begins Sunday.
Post-landing inspections of Atlantis' exterior revealed a total of 105 debris hits with 17 of those larger than 1-inch in length. The lower surface had 73 debris hits, of which 17 were larger than 1-inch in length.
