Shuttle managers today announced Oct. 5 as the
official launch date for Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-92. The
announcement followed the standard Flight Readiness Review held at KSC
throughout most of the day.
At the launch pad, work continues to prepare Discovery for
liftoff. Technicians completed Shuttle ordnance installation yesterday, and the
main engine flight readiness test is ongoing. Orbiter aft compartment close-outs
are under way and will continue through Saturday evening. Over the weekend,
workers will install and check out the space suits. Flight crew equipment
installation begins Sunday.
