Shuttle Processing Note
Shuttle managers today announced Oct. 5 as the official launch date for Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-92. The announcement followed the standard Flight Readiness Review held at KSC throughout most of the day.

At the launch pad, work continues to prepare Discovery for liftoff. Technicians completed Shuttle ordnance installation yesterday, and the main engine flight readiness test is ongoing. Orbiter aft compartment close-outs are under way and will continue through Saturday evening. Over the weekend, workers will install and check out the space suits. Flight crew equipment installation begins Sunday.

Shuttle Processing Note
Technicians have completed engine heat shield installation. Work continues to close out the orbiter's payload bay. Workers are preparing for the integrated hydraulic and flight control test.

Shuttle Processing Note
STS-106 payload removal is complete. The Shuttle main engine heat shields have been removed and engine removal is now under way. Technicians are also preparing for routine tests on the forward reaction control system.
