Shuttle Processing Note  (previous notes)

The launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour on the STS-108 mission was postponed today due to unsatisfactory weather conditions in the KSC area. Launch controllers counted down to the T-5 minute point and held until the remainder of the 5-minute window expired. The scrub had to be called after Astronaut Office Chief Charles Precourt, flying the Shuttle Training Aircraft, detected precipitation in a cloud mass that moved into the Complex 39 area a short time before launch.

The launch team has implemented a 24-hour scrub turnaround, aiming toward a preferred launch time of 5:19 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Dec. 5. The countdown will be recycled to the T-6 hour mark and will pick up at 8:27 a.m. Wednesday morning after a one-hour built-in hold. External Tank propellant loading is scheduled to start at 7:50 a.m.

The weather forecast for Wednesday remains generally the same as today with a 20 percent probability of adverse conditions prohibiting the launch. The primary concerns are for possible showers in the vicinity of Launch Complex 39.
