Shuttle Processing Note  (mission processing summary)

At Launch Pad 39A, final preparations for the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis continue to go well. Shuttle main engine flight readiness testing is complete and the recently installed space suits have been checked for flight.

Orbiter hydraulic testing concludes today. Technicians will continue external tank and solid rocket booster closeouts through the weekend. Orbiter aft compartment closeouts are in work through Tuesday. Shuttle ordnance installation is slated to begin Saturday.

Atlantis' payload bay doors were slated for closure on Wednesday of this week, but final measurements of the elbow camera clearance revealed only a one-inch clearance from the U.S. Lab payload. The necessary adjustments have been made and follow-up measurements are under final engineering review. Managers expect payload bay doors to be closed for flight tonight. The delay in door closure has no impact on the remainder of the processing flow.
