Space Shuttle Atlantis and a five-member astronaut crew lifted off from KSC’s Launch Pad 39B on time today at 5:03:59:04 a.m. EDT. The KSC launch team worked no significant issues through the countdown and a flawless launch began the milestone mission to deliver the airlock to the International Space Station. This marks the 105th mission in Space Shuttle history and the 24th flight of Atlantis.
The two solid rocket booster recovery ships, Freedom Star and Liberty Star, deployed into the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday, July 11 at about 8 a.m. Booster recovery operations should begin around 6:45 a.m. today. The first ship and booster are expected to arrive at Hangar AF at about 2 p.m. Friday, and the second ship will follow at about 3:30 p.m.
