Shuttle Processing Note  (orbiter processing notes)

Functional testing of the airlock’s upper hatch is complete and the orbiter’s docking mechanism has been stowed for flight. Alignment repair work on Atlantis’ heads-up display (HUD) unit continues to go well. Technicians have completed work on the commander’s side and will begin retests tonight. Pilot side repairs begin today. Though the unplanned HUD work will delay the orbiter’s arrival in the VAB and at the launch pad, the target launch date remains unchanged.

Discovery’s window replacement work continues. Payload premate testing is in work through the remainder of the week. In the orbiter’s aft compartment, preparation is under way for Shuttle main engine installation. Engine installation begins Friday.

Shuttle Processing Note  (orbiter processing notes)

Shuttle orbiter Endeavour was lifted from the back of NASA’s Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) today at about 3 a.m. Towing operations began at about 8:50 a.m. and concluded with Endeavour’s arrival at OPF bay 1 around 9:45 a.m.

Endeavour will now undergo standard post-ferry flight deconfiguration and then begin processing for mission STS-108.

Columbia is being stored in VAB high bay 4 until Atlantis moves to the VAB to be mated to the STS-104 external tank and solid rocket boosters. Columbia will then be transferred into OPF bay 3 to continue STS-109 preflight processing.
