Processing Note (previous
notes) |
Following an extensive status review, the Mission Management Team gave the go-ahead to continue preparations for the STS-108 launch on Nov. 29. At pad B, closing of the payload doors was delayed until 4 p.m. today to repair two small gaps in the door bulb seal near the aft bulkhead. The pad will cleared for cryogenic loading of the Orbiter fuel cells, which will run from 9 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Wednesday. The countdown will enter a 12-hour, 49-minute hold starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday, and the rotating service structure will be moved to the launch position at 11:30 p.m. Booster recovery ships Freedom Star and Liberty Star are scheduled to depart from their berths at Hangar AF at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
STS-108 Commander Dominic Gorie and Pilot Mark Kelly flew landing profiles aboard the Shuttle Training Aircraft this morning, and all seven crewmembers underwent
pre-launch medical exams during the day.
Weather forecasters are currently indicating a 40 percent chance that weather could prohibit the launch because of the slight possibility of rain/thundershowers in the area. At launch time on Thursday the temperature will be 77 degrees F with scattered clouds at 2,000 and 8,000 feet and broken clouds at 22,000 feet. |
