Processing Note (previous
notes) |
Today, Shuttle managers named Feb. 14 as the target launch date for mission STS-109. The move accommodates orbiter processing requirements while maintaining an early 2002 launch date to the Hubble Space Telescope.
Technicians have completed close-out work on the recently installed forward reaction control system. Work on Columbia's orbiter maneuvering system (OMS) pods is complete. Workers are checking Columbia's S-band communication system and preparing for the payload premate test. |

Processing Note (previous notes) |
Managers also announced March 21 as the target launch date for mission STS-110. This move also accommodates orbiter processing requirements and allows time for the planned wiring modification currently in work.
Atlantis' main propulsion system has undergone a routine liquid oxygen leak check, and leak checks on the environmental control system are complete, as well. Thruster replacement efforts are nearing completion as technicians conduct routine X-ray checks. The monoball wiring harness modification continues.
