Shuttle Processing Note (previous
notes) |
Technicians have removed Discovery's three main engines and the forward reaction control system. Preparation is under way for payload bay door closure later this week. Discovery's post-flight work proceeds on schedule toward a transfer to VAB high bay 4 as early as Thursday. Managers will assess local weather conditions to determine the best time for Discovery and Atlantis to swap locations.
Orbiter Discovery is scheduled to begin a thorough structural inspection and modification period after STS-105 post-flight work concludes. Shuttle managers continue to assess the content, schedule and location of this planned work period. A decision is expected in mid-September. |
