Shuttle Processing Note  (previous notes)

The seven STS-110 crewmembers were at KSC earlier this week to participate in the Shuttle Atlantis Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test that was completed on Tuesday. Loading of the hypergolic fuels is in process and the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) hot fire tests are scheduled for Friday. Weekend work includes replacement and retest of a Master Events Controller and an APU hydraulic pump in the right aft Solid Rocket Booster (SRB), after x-rays indicated a possible problem with bolt inserts that secure the pump to the SRB. Shuttle Atlantis remains on schedule for its launch to the International Space Station on April 4.

In the Orbiter Processing Facility (OPF), the Hydraulic/Flight Control test on Shuttle Endeavour has been successfully completed. Potable water servicing and final aft closeouts are in work in preparation for the STS-111 mission.

Post-landing processing of Shuttle Columbia continues in the OPF. The Hubble payload components have been off-loaded and work is in progress to remove the Remote Manipulator System and de-service the hypergolic residual propellants. X-rays of the freon coolant loops are continuing.

Discovery is in the OPF awaiting the start of its Orbiter Major Modification (OMM) period that is scheduled to begin at the Kennedy Space Center late this summer.
