Processing Note (previous
notes) |
At about 8:10 p.m. tonight, Shuttle mission managers postponed the launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour on mission STS-113. Launch has been reset for Saturday, Nov. 23. Tonight’s scrub was due to inclement weather at the Transoceanic Abort Landing (TAL) sites in Zaragoza and Moron, Spain. One of these two sites is required prior to launch in the event an emergency landing is required.
Weather forecasters currently indicate a five percent chance of weather prohibiting launch at the Kennedy Space Center on Saturday. The weather forecast tomorrow night for both Transoceanic Abort Landing Sites in Spain still holds a concern for occasional showers and light turbulence.
Tonight, technicians at the Pad will begin de-tanking more than 500,000 gallons of cryogenic propellant from the external tank, and proceed with scrub turnaround operations for the launch attempt tomorrow. Tanking operations will commence tomorrow at about 10:30 a.m.
Tomorrow’s preferred launch time is 7:49:47 p.m. EST. The launch window extends for about 5 minutes.
